TOP GLOVE APPOINTS NEW INDEPENDENT DIRECTORS

KUALA LUMPUR: Top Glove Corporation Bhd has appointed Chong Su-Lin and Rowina Ghazali Seth as its independent directors effective today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the leading manufacturer of disposable rubber gloves said that Chong is currently an independent non-executive director (INED) of Cengild Medical Bhd, AIA Bhd and ECRI Bhd, as well as a council member of Hospis Malaysia and director of Naluri Hidup Sdn Bhd.

"She began her career in 1984 as a medical practitioner in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom.

"Chong was the lab leader for the healthcare segment of the national key economic areas blueprint by the government in 2010, and more recently a member of the task force appointed by the Health Minister to look into workplace culture in the Ministry of Health's hospitals," it said.

The company said that her past positions include helming the chief executive officer position at Sunway Medical Centre, Prince Court Medical Centre and the healthcare arm of the International Medical University, as well as the executive director position at Beacon Specialist Hospital.

Meanwhile, Top Glove said that Rowina is currently the INED of Velesto Energy Bhd and UEM Edgenta Bhd as well as a director of Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd.

It said that she began her career in 1985 in the information technology division at Shell, where she then assumed various local and global positions in its upstream, downstream and business operations.

"Rowina rose to senior positions, including as Shell Malaysia's general manager of corporate affairs and director of Shell Business Services Sdn Bhd.

"As a senior member of Shell's management, she has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry," it added.
